Joseph Wilson (martial arts)

Joseph Wilson, PhD. is the Founder and Technical Director of Memphis Martial Arts Center, and a P.O.S.T. certified, full-time law enforcement officer and internal affairs detective. He serves on the RMAX Head Coaching Staff with Scott Sonnon. He is a writer, a coach, a teacher and a public speaker. He has been practicing martial arts for 27 years and holds 5th degree black belts (master level) in three different martial arts, with additional black belts and certifications in many others. He is sought out by martial arts schools, law enforcement agencies, and private industries to provide training on a variety of topics ranging from anger management to self-protection. He holds a PhD. in Health and Physical Education and is a PhD. candidate for a degree in Criminal Psychology.
Wilson has been inducted into the International Martial Arts Hall of Fame as "Master Instructor of the Year" by the World Head of Family Sokeship Council.
In 2005, he competed on Scott Sonnon's team at the International San Shou Championship in Mobile, Alabama. He won the gold medal in his weight class.
