Joseph Palackal

Joseph J Palackal was the founder and President of the Christian Musicological Society of India. Palackal received his Ph.D. in ethnomusicology from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York in May of 2005. His dissertation topic was Syriac Chant Traditions in South India, a study of the contemporary practice of model melodies of the Chaldean rite of the Syro-Malabar Church, and the oktoechos of the Antiochene rite of the Orthodox churches.
