Joseph Leonardi

Dr. Joseph F. Leonardi (born September 22, 1964) is an American Doctor of Chiropractic and a first time politician from the U.S. state of Pennsylvania; he is currently seeking to represent the state's 11th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives. This district includes parts of Luzerne and Lackawanna counties including Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, and Hazleton, all of Columbia, Carbon, and Monroe Counties. He is a Republican.
Dr. Leonardi was born the son of an Italian immigrant and raised in Pittston, PA. He currently lives in Dupont, PA. He holds degrees from Luzerne County Community College, the University of the State of New York and New York Chiropractic College. Dr. Leonardi is a five-year veteran of the United States Navy.
Prior to becoming a Doctor of Chiropractic, Dr. Leonardi worked in banking, radio, and marketing. In addition to hosting call in radio and television shows, he was also a regular contributor to a Scranton sports radio program.
Dr. Leonardi was the first Chiropractor for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers of the Arena Football League 2 (a capacity he continues to serve in) and the Scranton Eagles of the Empire Football League (he was also a member of their board of directors).
Prior to opening his own Chiropractic office, he was the clinic director of Chiropractic offices in Philadelphia and York, PA. As well as being a practicing Doctor of Chiropractic, he has served as an adjunct faculty member at Luzerne County Community College, College Misericordia and Allied Medical and Technical Careers.
He has been recognized by various Republican organizations with the following awards; National Leadership Award, 2004 and 2005 NRCC Physician of the Year, and the 2005 Ronald Reagan Gold Medal. In the United States Navy, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. At New York Chiropractic College, he served as editor of the school paper, "The Impulse", and was awarded the NYCC Distinguished Service Award and inducted into the Phi Chi Omega Chiropractic Honor Society.
Dr. Leonardi is running on a strong anti-nepotism platform pledging that if someone is related to him, they will not receive a government job nor contract. He also pledges to have full time offices in each County and limit himself to 3 terms. He is pro-life, pro-2nd amendment and wants to revamp the tax code replacing the current system with a simple, fair, flat tax.
Dr. Leonardi is a strong opponent of the proposed inflatable dam project along the Susquehanna River. There is a commercial on his web site concerning the dam project. (A side note, the Susquehanna River was named the most endangered river in the U.S.)
