Joseph Finnegan

The Honourable Mr. Justice Joseph Finnegan (October 1942) is a member of the Irish Supreme Court since his appointment by President Mary McAleese in November 2006.

He was born in Dublin and went to UCD where he studied law. He qualified as a solicitor in 1966 practising from that year until 1978 when he qualified as a barrister which is what he worked as until his appointment to the High Court in 1999. He served as President of the High Court from 2001 until 2006 upon his appointment to the Supreme Court of Ireland.
