Joseph Enterprises, Inc is a gadget company, owned by Joseph Pedott and based in San Francisco, California. Its two most popular items are The Smart Clapper® and the Chia Pet®.
The Smart Clapper®, whose slogan is "Clap On! Clap Off!", is a patented (filed on July 9, 1986 but was first sold to the public September 1, 1985)* apparatus for activating switches in response to different acoustic signals. Except for its brand name which was first used on September 8, 1977, Chia Pet®, is not a patented invention. The first Chia Pet® was the ram, marketed and distributed in 1982.
Products marketed by Joseph Enterprises tend to be advertised on television during the Christmas shopping season
