Joseph C. Amberg

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Joseph Amburg (1892-September 30, 1935) was a New York mobster and, with his brothers Hyman and Louis "Pretty" Amberg, were involved in labor racketeering and other criminal activities later competing with the rivals such as Jacob "Gurrah" Shapiro, Louis "Lepke" Buchalter, Abe "Kid Twist" Reles and the Shapiro Brothers during the 1920s and 30s. Amberg would eventually be murdered alongside associate Morris Kessler when the two were ambushed in a Brownsville auto repair garage and, after being ordered to line up against the wall, was gunned down by members of Murder Inc. on September 30, 1935.
