Joseph "Joe" Addai (born May 3, 1983 in Houston, Texas) of Ghanaian heritage is a current American football running back for the Indianapolis Colts. He was drafted 30th overall in the 2006 NFL Draft from LSU in the first round. During his tenure with the Tigers, he ranked fifth all-time in rushing, with 2,577 yards, despite being used as a blocking fullback early on. In college, he was also a backup running back and received All-American running back.

In high school , Addai was a left-handed option-style quarterback for the Sharpstown High School Fighting Apollos. An exceptional athlete, Addai exhibited great potential, maxing 300 pounds on the bench press in the 10th grade.[citation needed]

Addai, the fourth running back selected in the 2006 draft, was the third running back selected by the Colts in the first round since 1994, when they selected Marshall Faulk with the second overall pick in 1994. In 1999, the team chose Edgerrin James fourth overall.

On November 26, 2006 Addai tied a Colts franchise record for most rushing touchdowns in a game held by Lenny Moore, Lydell Mitchell and Eric Dickerson, as well as the NFL rookie record by rushing for 4 touchdowns against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Chris Berman of ESPN often calls him Joseph "Live and Let" Addai. This is in reference to the Paul McCartney song, "Live and Let Die".

On December 7, 2006, Addai was awarded the Offensive Rookie of the Month for the month of November by the NFL.

As of week 14, Addai leads all rookie running backs with 845 yards rushing.
