Joseph Abaco

Joseph Abaco, or Joseph Marie Clément dall' Abaco, was a Belgian violoncellist and composer. Born and baptised in Brussels, Belgium on March 27, 1710, he was musically trained by his father. At age 19 he entered into the service of the Prince-elector at Bonn, Germany and played in the court orchestra. He was appointed as it's music director in 1738, traveled to England in 1740, traveled to Verona in 1753 and was entitled as baron by Prince Maximilian of Bavaria in 1766. He has created over thirty cello sonatas, other compositions and other works. He died at Arbizzano di Valpolicella, Italy, near Vernoa, on August 31, 1805.
