José María Medina

José María Medina was temporarily President of Honduras between September 1 and December 31, 1863, and then served for a much longer period between March 15, 1864 and July 26, 1872. He provisionally served a third time between August 12 and August 27, 1876.
He was born on September 8, 1826 in Gracias a Dios Department in Honduras. He joined the Honduran army age 18, and fought against William Walker's attempts to conquer Central America.
He was executed by firing squad in 1878 in Santa Rosa de Copán.
