José Luis Lopez Panizo

José Luis Lopez Panizo (born Sestao, Vizcaya, January 12, 1922), usually shortened to Panizo, was a Spanish/Basque footballer who played for Atlético Bilbao, SD Indautxu and Spain during the 1940s and 1950s. Panizo first played for Nuevo Porto Arsenal and then joined Sestao SC for the 1938/39 season. He made his debut for Atlético Bilbao during the 1939/40 season. He was a member of the Atlético team that won the La Liga/Copa double in 1942/43 and the Copa del Generalisimo three times in a row between 1943 and 1945. He played 405 games for Atlético including 326 in La Liga and scored 126 league goals in sixteen seasons. Panizo made his debut for Spain in 1946 and subsequently played 14 games, scoring twice. He was a member of the Spanish squad during the 1950 FIFA World Cup. He finished his playing career at SD Indautxu
