José Luis Calderon (born October 24, 1970 in La Plata, Argentina) is an Argentinian football striker who currently plays for Estudiantes de La Plata in his home country. Aside from playing with Estudiantes, he has played for Defensor de Cambaceres, Club Atlético Independiente and Arsenal de Sarandí in Argentina, as well as playing for CF Atlas and Club América in Mexico. In Italy, he played for S.S.C. Napoli during the 1997-98 season.
Calderón was in the Argentina team but he had a fight with the manager which ruined his chances of ever playing for the national team again.
Calderón is called "Caldera" and it's well known due to a 48 metre goal he scored against Boca Juniors in 1998.
