José Frajtag

José Frajtag (born 1943 in Rio de Janeiro) is a Brazilian architect and writer.
Son of Jewish immigrants from Poland(from the city of Opole), and third of four brothers, was born in Rio´s Downtown, where his father worked as a bulk seller of clothes and fabrics. Among many other activities, his father also worked in the construction business and was an important influence over his sons, making them work with engineering or architecture. The older brothers opted for engineering, but the younger sister opted for medicine. He entered to the Faculdade de Arquitetura da UFRJ, in Rio de Janeiro, from which he graduated as Architect in 1967. He worked 25 years designing buildings for several architectural enterprises, and also with his father and older brother, with whom he designed and built offices and apartment buildings for their own construction enterprise, that didn´t last very long, shot by one of Brazil´s economic crisis. One of his works, an apartment building in Ipanema, became home of their parents, and brothers. After an early retirement, debuted as a writer in the year of 2002, with the book "A Neblina"(The Fog), one of the first to be digitally edited in Brazil by Editora Papel Virtual. It´s a collection of hard and soft Science Fiction(Sci-Fi)short stories where the protagonists are mainly architects.
