Not long after his arrival, in 22 May he presented his demission after losing the championship to Benfica, and was replaced by Dutch manager Co Adriaanse. He managed Belenenses of Lisbon during 2005/2006 season. Since August 2006 is now manager of Portugal national under-21 football team.
