José Francisco Capellán (born on January 13, 1981 in Cotui, Dominican Republic) is a relief pitcher in Major League Baseball who plays for the Milwaukee Brewers. Previously, Capellán played with the Atlanta Braves (2004). He bats and throws right handed. He was traded by the Braves to the Brewers after the 2004 season, along with minor leaguer Alex Zumwalt, for pitcher Danny Kolb.
In a three 2004 games, Capellán compiled a 0-1 record with and an 11.25 ERA in 8.0 innings.
A highly-touted prospect, Capellán was acquired after a rapid rise through the Braves' system in exchange for All-Star reliever Dan Kolb. In 2004, Capellán pitched at Class-A, Double-A and Triple-A and posted a combined 14-5 mark with a 2.80 ERA. He throws a fastball that has been clocked at 100 MPH.
Capellán opened the 2005 season with the Triple-A Nashville Sounds, but has since been called up to the Brewers major league club, where he has been working relief.
