[edit] Baguio

Jordz. I'm sorry to disappoint you but this is a local term and not part of the English language, unclassunless you consider the definition under the name of the City. Only words that have made it into the English language such as Carabao, Boondocks etc. and are notable can be considered as articles in the English wikipedia.--Jondel 11:17, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

Jordz, mainstream Filipinos don't accept baguio (sic) as storm or typhoon. Do your (Filipinos) friends recognize this term. The term that is recognized is bagyo. --Jondel 07:11, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

  • Hi Jondel, my main point here is that baguio is the de facto spelling in English for the Filipino term "bagyo". That is the spelling used the world over. This fact is supported by the links I have given before. Actually, I also wish that the accepted Filipino spelling "bagyo" should be used rather than the English one, but I can't find any document/reference to that end. As to the english term being deprecated by mainstream Filipinos, I have doubts on that claim. Jordz 05:48, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] MonstersGame sandbox

The following is the draft in support for its entry

MonstersGame is a browser-based game revolving around the theme on the battle between vampires and werewolves. Originally, the game was for German gamers but it has taken ground through Europe and elsewhere with the release of game servers in English and other European languages including Polish and Russian. It also has Japanese and Turkish versions.

MonstersGame has 68 gaming servers, 15 of which is dedicated to the German site. The English version currently has 4 servers with around 270,000 registered accounts. The first MonsterGame server went online in Germany on June 17, 2005. On February 21, 2006 the English server went online. The game is produced by a German company, RedMoon Studios.

[edit] Gameplay

Like many browser-based games, one needs to be registered to play the game. At the registration, one will be asked to choose a race: vampire or werewolf. Once registered, the objective is to attack members of the opposite race to gain gold and loot and by doing so, a player will level-up (to gain enough experience points) against other players. There are many ways to level-up. The most common way is to go on a Manhunt, which will cause your character to leave his hideout and hunt humans for a set amount of time. Manhunts can bring in a large amount of loot even for a beginner. To prevent characters from becoming too powerful too quickly, they may not go on a Manhunt for longer than an hour each day. With a premium membership, a paid service, this is increased to two hours.

Usually, before a player leaves the game for a large amount of time, they would set their character to work at the graveyard for a maximum of eight hours. The higher the level of the character, the more gold they gain for each hour.

The character's gold may be spent buying items, training their character, upgrading their hideout or donating to the clan domicile. Gold can be looted by other players if they attack, and win. To prevent this, players can upgrade a hideout which will make it more difficult for the opposing race to locate them. The hideout can be upgraded in certain parts; the building, the path, the fence and the surroundings. The character is automatically sent to their hideout when they aren't performing any other action in the game.

While the game isn't focused heavy on roleplaying, characters do have Attributes scores, commonly found in roleplaying games. There are five different attributes which improves the character in one way or another. Attributes get more expensive every time they are trained.

  • Strength — How much damage will be dealt if the opponent is struck.
  • Defense — How well your character can block and evade the opponents blows.
  • Agility — The likeliness of striking your opponent.
  • Stamina - How much damage is inflicted if you are struck
  • Dexterity — The higher the chance of finding a certain character during hunting and affects the Defense attribute.

A player may also buy their character a sentinel. Like a character these may be also be trained. Their attributes are added to their masters when he or she fights an opponent. They only contain the first three attributes and they cannot be attacked.

The player's character is immortal. However, once it only has 25 healthpoints or below, a player cannot do anything except working at the graveyard. If only 10 healthpoints or below is remaining, the player automatically loses the fight.

Any member may join a clan. A clan is composed of players of the same race, e.g. a werewolf clan is for werewolves. Clan wars can be coordinated once a consensus is made and posted to the clan page in engaging one.

[edit] MonstersGame comments

I'm no admin, but I thought you would appreciate some input on this matter to help you bring the proposed article up to articlespace quality:

  • Currently, there are no references. Without references to allow people to verify the claims, this appears to be original research. Note that the game's own website is a primary source, which we need another secondary source to write about to be able to get a reference.
  • There is no indication of what makes this subject notable. Whilst the importance of notariety is contested, it is generally considered a useful guideline. This is because if something is not notable, no secondary sources can be found to verify it (and hence is intertwined with the above).

Your best bet here would be to begin scouring google, news websites, etc, to try and build up a selection of references to the Monster game from respected sources. LinaMishima 03:37, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

  • Thank you for the inputs. I have found the needed resources from the Web. I have also researched the additional facts on user accounts and servers for the opening sentences. On notability, well, I can submit less notable browser games which have articles in Wikipedia. Jordz
