Jornal do Brasil

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Jornal do Brasil is a daily newspaper in Brazil. It was founded in 1891 and is based in Rio de Janeiro. It was traditionally targeted at the middle classes and elite from the southern zone of the city.

It was originally grounded in a conservative ideology that backed the restoration of the recently-deposed monarchy. For decades, it was controlled by Rui Barbosa. It was owned by count and countess Pereira Carneiro, and later by his son-in-law Manuel Francisco do Nascimento Brito, and is currently owned by businessman Nelson Tanure.
