Jonathan Wilson is an American musician and producer who was born in Spindale, North Carolina in 1974. He founded the band Muscadine with Benji Hughes in 1995. Muscadine was signed by Seymour Stein for Sire records and recorded 3 albums for the label. Since then he has been living and working in NYC, Georgia and California, and now in the canyons over Los Angeles, designing and following the inner paths and registrations that are true american music. Frankie Ray (pretty and black/koch) is his latest offering, with a release date of April 2007. This taken from the from the folk-poet "Stillwater Dreamer":

Frankie Ray is the latest in a long series of stellar explorative neo-folk music from North Carolina born songwriter/producer Jonathan Wilson. Formally of the Sire Records bandits Muscadine, Jonathan has been travelling, recording, and documenting in renegade studios throughout Georgia, North Carolina, New York City, and finally, the canyons of California. He has played extensively in these places, cutting his teeth on his native western North Carolinian mountain music, whilst exploring his own ideas beyond bluegrass and traditional music into a meld of something altogether tasty.Wilson has been touring recently and playing with Ramblin’ Jack Elliot, Vetiver, Jenny Lewis, The Elected, Bert Jansch , to name a few. This particular work represents his finest to date, a 16 track journey of love and loss, in ode to "Frankie Ray" This record has made such an initial impact in the industry, that it sparked a virtual neofolk comet among labels in the US, and Wilson landed his own record label deal, Pretty and Black, through Koch Records, the worlds largest independent record distributor. Koch was even smart enough to give Wilson a 15 record free for all, for his own music and the vital neofolk community brewing worldwide. Wilson will be releasing 5 records in 2007 with Pretty and Black, mostly recorded in his "Canyonstereo" studio above Los Angeles. Wilson has been truly busy entering the inner worlds of production for quite some time. He says on the subject: " I live to elude the sonic spectrum, play tricks on it, duck and move, do some butterfly dance, stay on my feet, and let frequencies collide. Only then do I sprinkle fairy dust on it."

Jon Wilson was born in Tyler, Texas. He played bass in the band Eisley from 2000 or so until 2005.

He has not guest-starred on the television show Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye several times, as the character Howie Fines. This is a different person named jonathan wilson, a hollywood actor.
