Jonathan Antin

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jonathan Antin (born August 16, 1967 in Los Angeles County, California[1]) is a hair stylist and the owner of two Los Angeles hair salons; Jonathan Salon West Hollywood and Jonathan Salon Beverly Hills. The opening of the later salon served as the basis for the first season of the reality television series Blow Out, which chronicled his life as an entrepreneur, hair stylist, and hair product creator. He has worked with celebrities such as Madonna, Kate Bosworth, Kirsten Dunst, Rod Stewart, Alicia Silverstone, Margaret Cho, Tiger Woods, Ricky Martin, and Jackie Warner.

He was a student at the Fairfax Beauty Academy. He quickly landed a job at a trendy West Hollywood salon, and after many years of working his way up the ladder, Antin was able to purchase the salon. He charges roughly $750 for an average haircut at the salon or $1000 for a house call haircut. West Hollywood location nuumber is 310.855.0225 for appointments.

Antin and his fiancee, Sescie, recently welcomed a son named Asher Jones Antin.

He is the brother of Robin Antin, Neil Antin and Steve Antin (Steve denies this).

He was a judge in the 2004 Miss Teen USA Pageant.

In January 2006, he appeared in an episode of Bravo's makeover show Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.

Antin's life in the spotlight appears to have caused him some stress. He once walked out on "Fashion Week" New York due to inability to handle the stress of being photographed. His staff stayed on and completed the job.

He is rumored to be estranged from brother Steve Antin whom he seldom speaks of publicly, perhaps related to disagreements regarding a character supposedly based on Jonathan in Steve's movie Inside Monkey Zetterland.

Antin admitted on VH-1 that he has had numerous plastic surgeries including attempts to stem hair loss with experimental procedures. On that same show he talked about enjoying dressing up like Neo from The Matrix series around the house and laughingly confessed to being naked under the trenchcoat.

He has been depicted on his television show as being quite emotional and temperamental, often punching walls when angry or crying unabashedly at various points.

Antin appeared on Episode 4 of the first season of Da Ali G Show on HBO, where he was interviewed by the British comic Sacha Baron Cohen in the guise of Bruno, a gay Austrian media personality. Baron Cohen often uses the Bruno character to interview, often satirically, members of the fashion community. Antin opens the segment by describing himself as "a troubled, crazy, fuckin' maniac that has a lot of a feelings and a lot of emotion and a lot of craziness." After Bruno observes that "all of the evil people in the world" such as Saddam Hussein, Adolf Hitler, and Josef Stalin had mustaches, Antin concedes that not all Middle Easterners are crazy, but agrees with his interviewer that most of them are "a little fucking nuts, a little weird." Bruno follows up by noting that on the other hand, all the good people in the world, like Jesus, Rod Stewart, and hippies, had long hair. Antin responds that he is "very impressed" that Bruno "brought these issues up," because Antin had thought he was the only one who had ever noticed such a coincidence. Antin goes on to point out that Moses and God also had long hair and "didn't care so much about their look." When prodded on by Bruno to say something controversial, Antin delivers the following warning: "You motherfuckers in the Middle East, God help you if I ever come over there, 'cause I'll take all you cocksuckers out."[2]
