From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jonatha Brooke is an American folk-rock singer-songwriter. Her music is marked by complex harmonies and poignant lyrics.
Brooke's career began while she was a student at Amherst College in the early 1980s when she and fellow student Jennifer Kimball formed The Story. The Story released two albums, Grace in Gravity (1991) and The Angel in the House (1993). Both albums featured dissonant vocal harmonies to an extent not found in most albums in the genre.
After The Story broke up in 1994, Brooke released her first solo album, Plumb (1995). This was followed by 10 Cent Wings (1997), Steady Pull, a harder-rocking album, in 2001, and Back in the Circus, in 2004. Back in the Circus was released in 2005 in the UK combining some of its tracks with some from Steady Pull. In August 2006 she released a combo CD and DVD titled Live in New York. Her next studio album Careful What You Wish For will be released in january 2007
Jonatha Brooke has contributed vocals to animated film soundtracks and has her own label, Bad Dog Records.
