Jonas D. Jennings (born November 21, 1977 in College Park, Georgia) is an American football player who currently plays offensive tackle for the San Francisco 49ers of the NFL. He was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the in the third round (95th pick overall) of the 2001 NFL Draft. He went to University of Georgia.

TRANSACTIONS: Originally a third round (95th pick overall) draft choice by Buffalo in 2001…Signed by San Francisco as an unrestricted free agent from Buffalo on March 3, 2005.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:

2005: (With San Francisco)

  • Started in first three games of season before shoulder injury forced him inactive five games.
  • Placed on injured reserve (11-9) after undergoing shoulder surgery.
  • Started at right tackle in season opener vs. St. Louis (9-11) and helped team notch three offensive touchdowns in win.
  • Started game at left tackle before being replaced by Patrick Estes in second quarter after taking hit to larynx at Philadelphia (9-18).
  • Started at left tackle vs. Dallas (9-25) and helped offense rush for 124 yards, surpassing 100-yard mark for first time of season.
  • Inactive at Arizona in Mexico City (10-2) with shoulder injury that was aggravated week before against Cowboys.
  • Inactive vs. Indianapolis (10-9), at Washington (10-23), vs. Tampa Bay (10-30) and New York Giants (11-6) due to shoulder injury.
  • Underwent surgery to repair torn labrum and placed on injured reserve (11-9).

2004: (With Buffalo)

  • Played and started in 14 games, manning the left tackle post.
  • Started at left tackle vs. Jacksonville (9-12) and helped yield only one Drew Bledsoe sack.
  • Started at left tackle vs. New England (10-3) but left the game with a concussion in the third quarter.
  • Returned following week and started at left tackle at New York Jets (10-10).
  • Inactive with ankle injury vs. Miami (10-17) and at Baltimore (10-24).
  • Returned to the starting lineup vs. Arizona (10-31) and played a large role in allowing zero sacks for the first time since September 14, 2003. Paved the way for running back Willis McGahee’s 102-yard rushing performance.
  • Part of offensive line that allowed zero Drew Bledsoe sacks for the second straight game vs. New York Jets (11-7). Also led the way for McGahee’s 132-yard rushing performance.
  • Started vs. St. Louis (11-21) and helped open holes for McGahee’s 100 yards rushing.
  • Started at left tackle at Seattle (11-28) and held Seahawks DE Grant Wistrom from recording a sack. Helped McGahee notch four rushing touchdowns; the most by a Bill since 1979. Left the game with an injured shoulder but later returned.
  • Played through injury at Miami (12-5) and helped hold Dolphins DE Jason Taylor without a sack for second straight game.
  • Led way for Willis McGahee’s sixth season 100-yard rushing performance vs. Cleveland (12-12).
  • Played large role in the offensive line continuing its outstanding job protecting Bledsoe, as line only gave up one sack at San Francisco (12-26).

2003: (With Buffalo)

  • Started first eight games of season at left tackle.
  • Suffered hip flexor injury at Kansas City (10-26) and was de-activated next game at Dallas (11-9).
  • Returned to play vs. Houston (11-16) and vs. Indianapolis (11-23) before suffering a toe injury at New York Giants (11-30).
  • Placed on injured reserve with toe injury (12-3).

2002: (With Buffalo)

  • After playing right tackle most of rookie season, moved to left tackle for second season and started 15 games at that spot.
  • Served as a valuable member of an offensive line that did the job up front while Bledsoe set 10 team passing records, RB Travis Henry ran for fifth-highest single-season total in team history and WR Eric Moulds set franchise marks for catches in a season and had fifth-best receiving yardage year in Bills’ annals
  • Left game late in fourth quarter at New England (12-8) with a leg injury and sat out the following week vs. San Diego (12-15) – the only game he missed in 2002.

2001: (With Buffalo)

  • Enjoyed a solid rookie season in the NFL, starting all 12 games played.
  • Started 10 games at right tackle and two at left tackle.
  • Did not allow a sack all season.
  • Made NFL regular season debut vs. New Orleans (9-9).
  • Inactive with injured leg vs. Pittsburgh (9-30).
  • Started in win at Jacksonville (10-18) but suffered sprained foot in first quarter and missed remainder of game.
  • Inactive at San Diego (10-28) and vs. Indianapolis (11-4) due to sprained foot.
  • Started at left tackle at NE (11-11) in first game back after foot injury.
  • Started at left tackle but left in the first half with injured foot vs. Seattle (11-18).
  • Inactive vs. Miami (11-25) with foot injury.
  • Returned to start at right tackle at San Francisco (12-2).
  • Part of 310-yard offensive performance vs. New Orleans (12/16).
  • Played key role in offense putting up 398 total offensive yards at Atlanta (12-23).
  • Helped the offense post 368 total offensive yards at New York Jets (12-30).

COLLEGE:

  • Started at guard, tackle and center over final three years at Georgia.
  • Finished career with the most starting assignments on the Bulldogs roster (34).
  • Was a Football News All-America honorable mention selection in 2000 as well as an All-Southeastern Conference first-team choice by the League’s coaches, Football News and The Sporting News as starting left tackle.
  • Shifted to left offensive tackle from guard, starting in every game in 1999.
  • Started eight games at right guard in 1998 and the season finale vs. Georgia Tech at center.
  • Saw action in 11 games in 1997 as a tackle after red-shirting as a freshman in 1996.
  • Received degree in sports studies and earned SEC Academic Honor Roll recognition.

  • Selected to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Top 50 in Georgia and was the Journal-Constitution’s honorable mention All-State pick in 1995 at Tri Cities College Park (GA) High School.

  • All-Metro, All-County, and All-City performer on the offensive line as a senior.
  • Named Blue Chip Illustrated All-Southeast Region.
  • Also lettered in basketball and track.
