Jonathan Mark Foreman (born October 22, 1976) is the lead singer and guitarist of the alternative rock band Switchfoot. He writes or cowrites the lyrics for all of Switchfoot's songs. One of Switchfoot's and Jon's favorite pastimes is surfing ("switchfoot" is actually a surfing term). Jon was born in San Bernadino county, but he and brother, Tim Foreman, then moved to Massachusetts and Virginia Beach during their childhood. After moving to San Diego in his Junior High years, he became fast friends with Todd Cooper who got him to learn guitar. Cooper was later a guitar tech for Switchfoot, eventually leaving in 2005 to pursue his own musical career in bands Hank Floyd and My Red Hot Nightmare.

Jon attended UC San Diego, and when not on tour currently lives in San Diego, California with his wife, Emily, whom he married in January 2002. Besides being the main songwriter for Switchfoot, he has also done some work away from the band, including duets with Mandy Moore (for her movie A Walk to Remember ) and Noise Ratchet. Jon has also contributed to the books The Art of Being and New Way to be Human, the latter written by producer and person who "discovered" Switchfoot, Charlie Peacock. Jon also contributed guest vocals to Relient K's new album, Five Score and Seven Years Ago, for a track called "Deathbed". Musically Jon cites U2, The Police, The Beatles, Bach, Ronny Jordan, Miles Davis, Keith Green and Nirvana as some of his larger influences. In 2001 he was awarded the "Les Paul Horizon Award" for the most promising up-and-coming guitarist at the annual Orville H. Gibson Guitar Awards in Los Angeles.
