[edit] Background

Over the span of a decade, DeRosa has been involved with a handful of projects, each of which has explored different genres of music.

[edit] DLR

Between September 1996 and January 1997, DeRosa recorded under the DLR moniker. The result was "Shadow Complex", a CD EP that was released via Brighter Records. DLR also contributed to a pair of compilations -- "Americana: Tribute to Johnny Cash", and "Cat-Shaped Hole in My Heart." The latter compilation was spurred on by the death of Sam Rosenthal's cat.

[edit] PHaR and Aarktica

Aarktica was conceived in the winter of 1998 with Jon DeRosa's permanent loss of hearing in one ear as a distraction from his other musical interests. As his hearing loss became less of a distraction and more of a new way of listening, Aarktica became a means to execute the soundtrack of the life in mono now thrust upon him. One of audio distortions, aural hallucinations and a reliance on painkillers.

As of 2006, both DLR and PHaR are inactive projects, with his primary project being Aarktica.
