The word jolly can be used as either a noun or an adjective.

As a noun:

  • Jolly a surname in the Punjab (India) is a corruption of the word Jalli. One definition of the word Jalli is forgery, another is the name of a tribe in the North West Frontier Province (now a part of Pakistan).
