Joker Phillips

Joe "Joker" Phillips (born 1963) is the offensive coordinator for the University of Kentucky Wildcats football team..

Phillips, a native of Franklin, KY attended the University of Kentucky and was a member of the football team from 1981 thought 1984. During his playing career Phillips caught 75 passes for 935 yards and 9 touchdowns at the Wide Receiver position. At the time of his departure from Lexington he stood fifth on the University's receiving list.

Following two seasons as a player for the Washington Redskins of the National Football League Archer Phillips became a graduate assistant on the Kentucky football team. In 1990 he was promoted to assistant recruiting coordinator and in 1991 to Wide Receivers Coach. In 1997 Phillips was hired as Wide Receivers coach at the University of Cincinnati. Following two seasons spent in Ohio, Phillips coached on the staffs of the University of Minnesota, University of Notre Dame, and University of South Carolina. When Rich Brooks was hired as head football coach at Kentucky Phillips returned to his alma mater to serve as Recruiting Coordinators, Perimeter Game Coach, and Wide Receivers Coach. With the departure of Ron Hudson following the 2005 season Phillips was named offensive coordinator of the Wildcats.
