The Early Admissions Game: Joining the Elite, by Christopher Avery, Andrew Fairbanks and Richard Zeckhauser, concerns early admission to colleges in the United States. The authors combine survey research with an empirial analysis of more than 500,000 applications to 14 elite colleges. They argue that "Applying early dramatically improves an applicant's chances of admission."
