Thank you for the note on my talk page about backcountry.com. It's really nice to hear from someone with a positive attitude like yours. And, congratulations on the success of your company!

  • Wikipedia generally discourages self-promotion and self-advertisement. We have a guideline about autobiographical articles that applies here too: "If you are reasonably significant, someone will create an article about you sooner or later."
  • You asked about R.E.I.'s article, calling them "a massive big box store crushing independants everywhere." Well, basically, that's why they have a Wikipedia article - because they are recognizable to a lot of people.
  • I don't know if you've had a chance to review the deletion process, but it's designed to let the Wikipedia community weigh in on an article. If there is not a clear consensus to delete, it will be kept. However, the wishes of anonymous users or new users are usually weighed less heavily.
