[edit] Reasons for hang on

Hi GringoInChile, I'm contesting speedy deletion because I believe that this person is notable enough to deserve his own bio.

He certainly meets WP:BIO: "Persons achieving renown or notoriety for their involvement in newsworthy events": he was the central figure in one of the most significant encounters of its type in that period of Texan history, following shortly after the Battle of the Alamo, and the site of the massacre has been restored at what must have been great expense.

The question in my mind is whether he deserves his own article, or whether this article should be merged in to Fort Parker massacre. The reason I created a separate page was because I was disambiguating links to the varioys John Parkers listed in Wikipedia:Find-A-Grave famous people/P, and there was an entry for his dude, so I thoughtb that I would create the article at least for now, and see if anyone wanted to expand it.

My own preference would be to put an {{expand}} tag on it, and if it doesn't grow in a few months, to not delete it, but merge to Fort Parker massacre, with a redirect to that page. I can see a case for doing that now, but I'd prefer to wait; if you disagree, please use AFD.

But either way, please do not just delete it. --BrownHairedGirl 10:12, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

OK ... It will not be deleted, and has now been expanded ... More to be done Texan Traveler 04:17, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
