- LaFarge was also a revolutionary in the culinary arts. just a few of his edible works include boston cream donuts, marshmellows (which he called fluff pockets), and undoubtedly his most influential culinary delight, the chocolate-chip cookie, which he created accidentally when he forgot to add baking soda to a cake.
