Johnny Sauter (born May 1, 1978) is a NASCAR Busch Series driver from Necedah, Wisconsin, USA. In the Busch Series he drives the #00 Yellow / FleetPride Haas CNC Racing Chevrolet in the NASCAR Busch Series and part-time in the #70 HAAS Automation Chevrolet in the NASCAR Nextel cup series. Sauter was the 2001 American Speed Association champion. Sauter, along with co-driver Kevin Harvick, won the 2003 Owner's Nascar Busch Series Championship. In addition to sharing duties with Kevin Harvick in 2003, Johnny spent his rookie season in 2002 driving the #2 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet in 2002. In 2004 he drove the #27 Kleenex Chevrolet for Brewco Motorsports. He followed 2004 by switching to James Finch's Phoenix Racing #1 Yellow Transportation/Miccosukee Gaming Dodge Charger in 2005. Johnny would land his most promising opportunity in 2006 by landing driving duties of the #00 Yellow Trnasporation Chevrolet for Haas CNC Racing, which receives support from NASCAR powerhouse Hendrick Motorsports.
Johnny Sauter is the son of former NASCAR driver Jim Sauter, and the brother of NASCAR drivers Tim Sauter and Jay Sauter.
Sauter was the first driver to be fined and docked points for swearing during a post race radio interview, after a Busch Series race in Las Vegas in February 2004.
At Lowe's Motor Speedway, Sauter made his first NEXTEL Cup start for Haas CNC Racing, driving the #70 Chevrolet. Johnny was running in the top-ten for much of the race with teammate Jeff Green. However, late in the race, he blew a left rear tire, which caused minor damage to the car; Sauter ended up finishing 24th. He is also expected to race in the Allstate 400 at The Brickyard later this season. Alledegy Johnny will race the #70 Chevrolet full time in Nextel for 2007.
