[edit] Fact
- Hairston comes from the biggest major league baseball family. Five members of the family, spread over three generations, have played in the majors to set a record, beating out the four members of the Boone family (Ray, Bob, Bret and Aaron) over three generations. He is the son of Sammy Hairston, a former Negro Leaguer who later became one of the first black players in Chicago White Sox history; the brother of Jerry Hairston, and the uncle of Jerry Hairston, Jr. and Scott Hairston.
