Johnny Archer

Johnny Archer (born 12 November 1968 in Spring Hill, Florida, USA) is an American professional Pocket Billiards player. He is nicknamed 'The Scorpion', which is also his cue of choice.

He is one of the most succesful 9 Ball players of the past 15 years having won the majority of the games major tournaments, culminating in him being named Player of the Decade at the end of the 1990's. Archer is a former two time World 9 Ball Champion, winning in both 1992 when he defated Bobby Hunter and later again in 1997 after beating Kun-Fang Lee of Chinese Taipei, he was also a Runner-up the following year losing in the final to Kunihiko Takahashi of Japan. He was the 1999 U.S. Open champion, and has won over 60 professional tournament throughout his career.

He has also been a regular in the succesful U.S. Mosconi Cup team. Having represented them now 10 times, winning on 9 of those 10 occasions, the U.S.'s only loss with Archer in the team came in 2002 when they were beaten 12-9. He has captained the side since 2004 retaining the Mosconi Cup on each occasion, the most recent a 12-12 draw in Rotterdam, Netherlands where the U.S. retained on account of being the holders.
