John en Shirley is a sitcom aired weekly on ABS-CBN. The show started in the 60's with the title John en Marsha. Some of the original cast were Dolphy (as John Puruntong), Nida Blanca† (as Marsha Puruntong), Dely Atay-atayan† (as Doña Dehlila), Maricel Soariano (as Shirley Puruntong) and Rony Quizon† (as ?). The show was originally shown on the pre-Marcos ABS-CBN. After ABS-CBN was forced to cease its operations, the show transferred to KBS-9. The show remained there even after ABS-CBN reopened in February 1986. Finally, the show went off air on 1993 after more than 30 years when the main casts of the show, Dolphy and his sons, Nida† and Maricel decided to move back to ABS-CBN.

On 2006, the classic 60's sitcom was revived on ABS-CBN under the new title, John En Shirley (John, En for Encarnacion, Shirley). Dolphy and Maricel were the only ones remained from the original cast.

	Dolphy as John Puruntong	he is the ever lovable John who is now in his 70s but is still willing and able to do his part to keep his family happy. Past life experiences helped him become the wise man that he is now.
	Maricel Soriano as Shirley	she is John’s only daughter Shirley. Currently in her 30s, she’s still the strong-willed girl that we once new. She tries to balance her time between her family and her career. She’s also the peacekeeper between her father and her in laws.
	Susan Roces as En/ Encar/ Encarnacion	she is a very classy lady who’s all out for her family. She spoils her daughter and is always meddling with her son’s life. Living near Shirley and her family gives her the luxury to come and go of their house as she pleases.
Image:Atong.jpg	Vandolph as Atong Puruntong	is John’s youngest son who unfortunately, has no plans of leaving the nest yet and is always looking for easy ways to get money. He gets into all sorts of stitches because of his troublemaking ways.
	Mich Dulce as Mich Ramirez	Her mother spoils her to death leading her to believe that she really is too good a catch for just any man. She tends to be quite annoying especially when she baby talks
	Richie Macapagal as Bernie Ramirez	he’s a soft-spoken man with a good heart. He puts up his own company in order to get out of his mother’s shadow
	Noel Trinidad as Rene Ramirez	just like his son, he is soft-spoken and usually keeps to himself especially when he’s around his wife. He only comes out of his shell when he’s around John.
	Robert Ortega as Robert Delgado	he is Shirley and Atong’s boss
	Janna Baker as Nicole Ramirez	is already in her teens, she is energetic and has a lot of spirit but she doesn’t get along with her brother.
	Ivan Divid as JP Ramirez	is the youngest of Shirley’s children. He’s also soft-spoken like the other men in their family. John’s especially fond of him.
