John Torode

John Torode is an Australian chef based in the UK, specialising in Thai food. He runs Smiths of Smithfield, and several other restaurants scattered around London's Smithfield market.
He has had numerous TV appearances - his recipes are occasionally shown on Saturday Kitchen on BBC1, and has a regular article in the Daily Mail on Saturdays and in Olive Magazine. he was the resident chef on This Morning with Richard and Judy for four years. He is probably best known for co-presenting Masterchef Goes Large and Celebrity Masterchef on BBC2 along with Gregg Wallace.

John came to the UK at the age of twenty-five. He quickly made his way up to becoming head chef in some of London's top restaurants, working in many London restaurants, including Pont de La Tour, Quaglino's, Mezzo, and the Bluebird restaurant, along the way.

Australasian food being his specialty, he is acknowledged as being one of the main chefs to have acquainted that style to the UK. He also supports organic food.

He currently lives in South London, with his girlfriend, Jessica Thomas. He has four children.
