John Todd (1818-1894) was a Congregationalist minister and a 'conductor' on the Underground Railroad; from Tabor, Iowa. He is the basis for the abolitionist preacher and grandfather of John Ames, main character in Marilynne Robinson's novel, Gilead (2004).
