John Sheppard (around 1515–1558) was an English composer and organist.

He was choirmaster at Magdalen College, Oxford from 1543 to 1548, and was a Gentleman of the Chapel Royal by no later than 1552.

His works, which are typically richly polyphonic, include motets, two Magnificats, five masses, including one based on the song "The Western Wynde" (also the basis of masses by John Taverner and Christopher Tye), and works in English for Anglican services. Confusion surrounding his death date was resolved by the discovery by David Chadd of his will in 1995, which reveals that he died in 1558, soon after Mary.
