John Scumniotales

John Scumniotales (born 1964 in Haverhill, Massachusetts USA) is a computer scientist and a pioneer of agile software development methodologies. He is most notable as the co-creator of the Scrum methodology and for being the first Scrummaster.

Since creating Scrum, he has co-founded Vigor Technology, an object-technology startup that specialized in object-relational mapping tools and services, as well as holding senior and executive management positions at Rational Software and Pacific Edge Software. As of the submission of this entry, Mr. Scumniotales is the Vice President of Products for Pacific Edge Software, an industry leader in Project and Portfolio Management Solutions.

He worked at Easel Corporation with Jeff Sutherland where he was the first scrum master and co-creator of the scrum agile development methodology.

Scumniotales received his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with an Interdisciplinary Option in Computer Science from the University of New Hampshire.
