John Russell, 4th Earl Russell

John Conrad Russell, 4th Earl Russell (November 16, 1921 - December 16, 1987) was the eldest son of the famous philosopher and mathematician, Bertrand Russell and his second wife, Dora Black; great-grandson of the 19th century British Whig Prime Minister Lord John Russell; and half-brother of the historian Conrad Russell, who succeeded John as The Earl Russell. John became increasingly ill from his late twenties and in the last years of his life was irrevocably schizophrenic.
