John R. Thomas

President and Chief Executive Officer

J.R. Thomas has been with MedSynergies [1] since its inception in 1996. He has held several positions, starting as the Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Development in 1996, then the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 1997, and has been President and Chief Executive Officer, as well as a member of the Board of Directors, since 1999.

Prior to joining MedSynergies, Mr. Thomas was the Vice President of the newly formed HealthCare Finance Group for Bank One and grew the Emerging Marketing Division business from $50 million to $250 million in 20 months. He was also the Assistant Vice President for Texas Commerce Bank (Chemical Bank) where he focused on hospitals, emerging healthcare markets, core finance, revenue, and more. Mr. Thomas also has experience in credit, real estate and economics.

Mr. Thomas received his Masters of Business Administration, with honors, from the University of Texas Graduate School of Business. During his time at the University of Texas, he focused on finance and management. He was also a Sword Scholar and Dean’s Academic Award Recipient. Mr. Thomas received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Arkansas.

Mr. Thomas has an extensive lecture history. He has been a speaker at the National Users Conference for IDX Systems Corporations, the International Vitreous Society Meeting, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He has an extensive 2006 calendar of speaking opportunities including, HFMA, MB Project and more. Mr. Thomas is an experienced speaker on many topics such as, revenue cycle management, billing and collections processes, consulting, capitalization, raising funds, bank debt, turn-arounds, and high debt/low revenue.

Mr. Thomas has been involved in many organizations such as, the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, Camp Magic, Inc., the Dallas YMCA, DFW Health Industry Council, ACRS Society, and the Dallas Society of Ophthalmology. He has also been awarded with the Paula Barnard Volunteer of the Year Award and the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce Chairman’s Award.
