John Philliben

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

John Philliben was a professional footballer.

He started his career at Stirling Albion before a £70,000 transfer to Doncaster Rovers. Following his spell at Doncaster he spent 10 years at Motherwell, where he played in their Scottish FA Cup Semi-Final replay over Celtic.

In 1996 John left Motherwell to become manager of Stirling Albion, taking with him a fair amount of players from the Motherwell reserve team. This policy failed and John was sacked at the end of the 1998 season. He returned to Motherwell to become a coach.

John is now a driving instructor in his native Stirling.
