John Partridge (performer)

John Partridge (born July 24, 1971) is an English singer and dancer best known for his performance in the musical CATS.
Born July 24, 1971 in Manchester, England, he trained at the Royal Ballet School, Bush Davies Ballet, and Doreen Bird Ballet. In 1982 he appeared in the television adaptation of Stan Barstow's novel A Kind of Loving. He left college aged 17 to tour the UK with the original touring production of CATS from 1989 to 1990 as dance captain. He played the roles of Alonzo, and Rumpus Cat. He also understudied Mr. Mistoffelees and the Rum Tum Tugger. From the tour company he joined the West End company of CATS at the New London Theatre, playing the Rum Tum Tugger and Munkustrap. In 1998 he appeared in Andrew Lloyd Webber's filmed production of CATS playing Rum Tum Tugger, who he continued to play in London until the show's closure. He has since reprised the role in the German production at Düsseldorf.
He has also performed in Aladdin, Hunting of the Snark (playing Butcher at the Prince Edward Theatre), Starlight Express (playing Electra at the Victoria Apollo), Tommy as The Hawker and Captain Walker, Grease (playing Roger at the Dominion Theatre, The Fix at Donmar Warehouse, Rent (playing Roger Davis in Berlin), Notre Dame de Paris (playing Gringoire at the Dominion Theatre), Black Goes with Everything (at the Churchill Theatre, Bromley), and Taboo (playing Marilyn at The Venue in 2003). He is currently playing John in the new UK tour of Miss Saigon (2005)
He previously appeared in the documentary Aspects of Dancing and has been a guest on Pebble Mill, The Hot Shoe Show, and This Morning. He has appeared in television commercials for Foxes Classic, Colgate, Maltesers and Cadbury's Twirl.
He has worked with several rock and pop acts, including U2, Pet Shop Boys, Kim Wilde, Neneh Cherry, Pete Townsend, Mica Paris and Ultra Nate. He also has his own band, which has played the club circuit and records his own material. None of his own material has been released.
