John O'Keeffe played Gaelic football for the Kerry senior football team in the 1970s and 1980s, which won the exceptional four-in-a-row between 1978 and 1981.
O'Keeffe won a large number of All-Ireland Senior Football Championship medals. Other honours include National Football league medals and Railway Cup medals with Munster.
He is among the leading receipients of GAA All Stars Awards, with five awards from 1973, 1975, 1976, 1978 and 1979. He was also named the Texaco Footballer of the Year in 1975.
