John Northcott

General Sir John Northcott, KCMG, KCVO, CB (Creswick, March 24, 1890 – August 4, 1966, Wahroonga) was an officer in the Australian Army holding these posts:
- Director of Military Intelligence (1938–39)
- Vice Chief General Staff (1941–1942)
- Chief of the General Staff (1942–1945)
- Commander in Chief, British Commonwealth Occupation Force, Japan (February–June, 1946)
and
- Governor of New South Wales from August 1, 1946 – August 1, 1957.
