From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The John Muir Way is a continuous coastal path project currently in development by the local authority, East Lothian Council, Scotland, UK.
It is named in honour of the American 19th century conservationist, John Muir, who was born at Dunbar, East Lothian in 1838. When completed the path will run from Edinburgh through East Lothian to the Scottish Borders.
As of November 2006, two sections have been completed:
- The west section from Fisherrow Harbour, Musselburgh to Aberlady Bay (11 miles / 18 km).
- The east section from Dunbar Harbour to Dunglass, near Cockburnspath (10 miles / 16 km).
These completed sections also connect with other coastal & countryside pathways. The John Muir Way forms part of The North Sea Trail Project (Nortrail).
