John McAliskey is a professional footballer who currently plays for Huddersfield Town in Coca-Cola League One.

When he first played for Huddersfield, during the 2003-04 season, he was instantly compared by fans to Jon Stead, whom had recently left for Premiership side Blackburn Rovers. The comparisons were justified by his looks, hair, height and early goalscoring prowess, which helped Town win promotion that season.

Since then it has been tough going for him and he was sent on loan to Torquay United during the 2005-06 season, due to lack of match action. He has again failed to make an impression this season, and was sent out on loan to Wrexham.

Incidentally, he has played for the Irish Under-21 side, because his grandparents were originally from Ireland.
