John Marley

John Marley (October 17, 1907 – May 22, 1984) was an American actor who is best known for his role as Phil Cavalleri in Love Story and as Jack Woltz - who receives a horse's head in his bed - in The Godfather. He was also the lead in John Cassavetes breakthrough feature Faces.
Marley was a familiar character actor, who appeared in nearly 150 films and television shows throughout a career that lasted some 45 years.
He was nominated for an Academy Award as Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his role in Love Story, losing to John Mills who won for Ryan's Daughter.
Marley is interred at Cedar Park Cemetery, in Emerson, New Jersey.
