John Lytton, 5th Earl of Lytton

John Peter Michael Scawen Lytton, 5th Earl of Lytton, BSc. FRICS, MCIArb. IRRV. Hon.FBEng., (b. 7 June 1950) is a British surveyor.

He graduated from the University of Reading with a BSc honours degree in Estate Management in 1972; after spending 13 years in the Inland Revenue Valuation Office and some additional years of experience with surveying firms Permutt Brown & Co and Cubitt & West, he set up the practice of John Lytton & Co., Chartered Surveyors, in January, 1988 [1].

The then Lord Knebworth married Ursula Alexandra Komoly in 1980. Their children are Philip Anthony Scawen Lytton, current Viscount Knebworth, the Honourable Wilfrid Thomas Scawen Lytton and Lady Katrina Mary Noel Lytton [2]. He inherited Newbuildings Place in 1984 from his aunt, Lady Anne Lytton [3]; his cousins maintain the family estate, Knebworth House.

The Earl has taken his Byronic decent to heart and has contributed to the Newstead Byron Society Review [4]. He has also spoken before the Byron Society on his family history [5].

John Lytton succeeded his father as the 5th Earl of Lytton and 18th Baron Wentworth in 1985. His son, Philip Anthony Scawen Lytton, currently holds the Lytton family's courtesy title of Viscount Knebworth.
