John Layman

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

John Layman is a comic book and video game writer. Once an editor for Wildstorm, a branch of DC Comics, Layman turned to writing comics full-time in 2002. He mainly writes for Marvel Comics, and recent books include a solo Gambit series and House of M: Fantastic Four.

Layman also has written a creator-owned graphic novel called Puffed and some Thundercats series. His most recent works are Armageddon & Son, a spoof of the spy genre and the upcoming Sentinel Sqaud O*N*E* for Marvel Comics.

A member of the Church of Scientology since age 17, Layman was one of the first male celebrities to admit to watching television soap operas, particularly the shows produced by the American Broadcasting Company. This admission led to him making a cameo appearance on General Hospital and playing the recurring character Milo Steele on One Life to Live for which he received a Daytime Emmy nomination in 2000.

In 2005, Layman left One Life To Live amid unspecified allegations that were sealed in an out-of-court settlement. He now tours the world promoting his John Layman Home Anal Bleaching System. Interestingly, Layman has made nearly as much money from his anal-bleaching products as he has from his entire writing career. He has also suggested that he's better known for his anal bleaching than he is for his writing. In December 2006, he launched a weekly anal-bleaching column for the Hollywood Reporter.
