John Innes

Another John Innes was a British philanthropist and merchant in Merton who gave his name to a type of compost.

John Innes is a major force in the preservation and study of Guadalcanal history, working to identify wreck sites and Missing In Action cases, as well as accompanying veterans back to the locations in which they served.

He was born in London during World War II and moved to Australia as a small boy.

He is a Guadalcanal resident and creator of Battle of Guadalcanal website. He has extensive knowledge on the subject of Guadalcanal World War II history and land battles.

Amongst his many discoveries was the wreck of a Japanese Betty Bomber 377.
