John Frelinghuysen (1727-1754)

John Frelinghuysen (1727 – September 5, 1754) was a minister in colonial New Jersey.
Frelinghuysen, and his father, the Rev. Theodorus Jacobus Frelinghuysen (1691-1748), emigrated from Holland in 1720. John married Dinah VanBerr, who bore him two children: Eva (1751-c. 1826), Major General Frederick Frelinghuysen (1753-1804). John lived in the Old Dutch Parsonage in Somerville, New Jersey until his death where he served three local congregations. He also tutored students preparing them for the seminary. He died in 1748 and was buried at the Somerville Cemetery, Somerville.
