John E. Rooney

John E. Rooney (born April 23, 1939) is an American Republican Party politician, who serves in the New Jersey General Assembly, where he represents the 39th legislative district. He has served in the Assembly since 1983, making him the longest-serving representative in the New Jersey General Assembly.
John E. Rooney currently serves on the Assembly's Environment and Solid Waste Committee and the Military and Veterans' Affairs Committee. he has served on the Regulatory Oversight Committees and on the Intergovernmental Relations Commission. Rooney serves as Mayor of the Borough of Northvale since 1991 and from 1979–1986 and was a member of the Borough Council from 1976–1978. He was a Commissioner serving on the Bergen County Utility Authority from 1983–1988.
Rooney graduated with an A.A.S. from Syracuse University (Language), received training at the Air Force Institute (Russian) and graduated with a B.S. degree from Rutgers University (Management). He served in the United States Air Force from 1961–1965 as an Airman First Class. Rooney's occupation is Independent Consultant.
